Meet our Staff

Ms. Silvia Navarro

     Ms. Silvia Navarro, has worked for LAUSD for 18 years. She has had the pleasure of working at Aragon for the past 11 years. She currently teaches 2nd grades and has taught 1st grade as well.

     She graduated from the University of California, Irvine, where she earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology. She earned her teaching credential at California State University, Los Angeles, with a BCLAD in Spanish.

     In her spare time, she loves dancing and exercising. She has one son, Kristopher, and loves taking him to new places.

     She enjoys working with children and helping them reach their full potential. Her belief is that every child should be valued and treated with respect. She also believes that education should empower children and help her/him make a positive contribution to society.


Ms. P. Rodriguez

Ms P. Rodriguez, has been teaching at Aragon Elementary since 1996.  She has taughtSRLDP, Kindergarten, 3rd and 4th grades.  

She was born in Argentina and came to the United States when she was a little girl.   She is bilingual (Spanish/English) and thinks everyone should be fluent in two languages.  "The more languages we know the better we can understand the world around us."


Mrs. S. Rottenbacher

book-clip-art-thumb.gifMrs. Rottenbacher has been a teacher for LAUSD for 4 years. She gained her Bachelors in Urban Learning from CSULA, graduating with the highest honors. Before obtaining her credential in Special Education, Mrs. R. volunteered as a children's music teacher, a drama teacher, a reading tutor, and a downhill ski instructor. Mrs. R has always been an enthusiastic learner and teacher no matter what the subject and this makes working at Aragon Ave. Elementary School a particular pleasure for her.


Mrs. R lives with her husband of 31 years and they have three grown children: Joseph an artist, Brandon a chemist, and Jessica an accountant. Together with her family, Mrs. R. enjoys, puzzling, hiking, skiing, visiting museums, cooking, reading, and traveling.


Ms. Yolanda Serrato-Jonian

  Yolanda Serrato-Jonian is a California State University, Los Angeles alumni. She holds a BA in Child Development and an MA in Education. Ms. Serrato-Jonian is also a National Board Certified Teacher, receiving certification in Literacy.

       Ms. Serrato-Jonian has worked for LAUSD for 27 years. She has experience working with students K-6. She has taught 1st and 2nd grade students. She enjoys working with students at Aragon Avenue's Reading Lab. She loves reading as well as teaching reading. As the teacher in the Reading Lab she supports students with acquiring reading skills that will help them throughout their academic life. 

     Ms. Serrato-Jonian has chosen to work with students and families because she finds the experience immensely rewarding. She works to create for her students the same opportunities given to her through education and hard work. She believes every student has the potential to learn and wants to contribute to helping every student achieve.
